Retention Pond Restoration
To restore a city retention pond’s functionality and appearance, we applied a hybrid strategy combining biological weed control with sediment and vegetation management.
The pond regained its ability to manage stormwater runoff efficiently. Water flow improved, and overgrowth was significantly reduced without recurring chemical treatments.

Identified the excessive vegetation as the root of poor drainage
Stocked grass carp after securing state permits
Performed light dredging and inlet/outlet checks
Project Overview
This community lake had become overrun with invasive cattails that blocked water flow, obstructed views, and reduced ecological balance. Our team was brought in to restore the lake’s shoreline and improve water health using natural, non-destructive methods without the use of harmful herbicides.
Site Evaluation
We began by evaluating the pond’s layout and identifying blockages and zones where water retention had failed. Poorly drained patches were mapped for targeted restoration.
Low-Impact Vegetation Control
Invasive and excessive aquatic vegetation was managed using a natural, herbicide-free approach. The pond floor was gradually cleared, allowing the natural soil and drainage contours to re-emerge.
Hydrological Restoration
Water flow and retention capacity were enhanced by re-establishing the pond’s natural infiltration and circulation. Areas that once held stagnant water are now well-drained and stable.
Visual & Functional Recovery
